I had a WONDERFUL time at the Jupiter Hotel! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and got me checked in and out very quickly. I booked a room with a single bed and it was quite cozy as you can see from the pictures of other reviewers. No issues with that though as it is exactly what I expected and you will have everything you need as a solo traveler. The room was very clean when I arrived as well. My room faced out onto the street so there was noise from people passing by, but the windows did an excellent job of blocking most sound at night (which is when it really matters!). All that said, it is really the location of the hotel that is the strongest selling point. The hotel sits right on the border of the canal district (which is more touristy) and more residential neighborhoods. The surrounding streets are absolutely gorgeous to explore and one of the canals is literally just up the block on the other side of the road. Additionally, you will be a mere five to ten minute walk from a number of tram/bus lines (including the 397, which goes directly to Schipol Airport), as well as various restaurants and Albert Heijn's (great place to get some good and cheap prepared food if you're traveling on a budget). Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Jupiter Hotel to anybody traveling solo to Amsterdam.

Just returned home from a three night stay at this hotel. I stayed in one of their single rooms. It is very small, however it has everything you could need and a very comfortable bed. It was nice and clean and the reception staff were very friendly. Everything you could wish to see is within walking distance. Was very noisy outside side the first night but that is not the hotels fault. But it did quieten down the next two nights. I would be happy to stay here again.

Would definitely recommend for a city break. A reliable stay. Very Friendly Staff and a Great Location with everything within walking distance. Rooms are pretty decent. Was given two single beds pushed together as a double bed which wasn’t ideal however the room was great quality in spite of this. Room was very clean and hygienic, well decorated. Heating systems fantastic and maintained 24/7. Lots of hot water in a stocked up bathroom with a powerful shower. Overall a great stay with nice people and a beautiful city.

We have just returned home after the most amazing time in this hotel. We visited Amsterdam for my fiancés birthday and the hotel went above and beyond to make our experience a wonderful one. We were greeted with a friendly man with glasses ( we didn’t get his name) but, he couldn’t have been nicer. As I contacted the hotel prior to arrange a cake, the hotel made preparations to decorate the room and suprise my parter with champagne & a fresh fruit cheese cake! The room was spacious, and incredibly clean. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you so much & we can’t wait to return! With love Charlotte & ryan! X

Bed Bugs!!

1/5

·

H_Lou21 on Sep 12, 2023

Recently stayed here with two friends. First impressions, the hotel room was lovely, was in a great location and it had air conditioning which was needed for such a hot weekend! It wasn't until we were settling down to go to sleep at night and I saw a bug crawling on the bed. It was orangey brown and I hoped it wouldn't be a bed bug so we googled it and to our disgust, we discovered it was. We then pulled back the covers and more crawled out to our horror. We then informed the night staff, who at first didn't take us seriously, we told him there were bed bugs and he said he didn't know what bed bugs were!! I showed him one of the videos on my phone I had taken and he said "It's just one bug? What do you want me to do, catch it?" This was concerning as surely all hospitality staff should know what bed bugs are especially when working in a hotel and he wasn't taking us seriously at all, it felt almost like he was mocking us and felt like he was being condescending. We then asked if we could move rooms and he told us the hotel was fully booked. He eventually agreed to check out the bed bugs in our room and he then filmed them and immediately sorted us out with a new room two floors below - contradicting what he had told us earlier when he said he didn't know what bed bugs were and that the hotel was booked up. We were thankful we eventually got a new room, however we were downgraded to a smaller room with no air-conditioning just to add to our dismay. We were just thankful to move rooms at that point, however it tainted the rest of our stay there. Not only were we paranoid that the bed bugs may have infested our own stuff, it just wasn't handled appropriately at all. We weren't taken seriously and then for the rest of our stay, none of the staff addressed it with us or formally apologised about the issue and downgrading our room. We were disappointed and felt uncomfortable to discuss the issue further with staff after this. I appreciate these things can happen and it's unfortunate but it could have been handled much better by staff. I hope the hotel has sorted the bed bug issue out properly before they spread and allow other people to stay in the room and surrounding rooms. We would not recommend and would avoid.
